Mica Rapstine

I currently serve as Postdoctoral Research Associate in Philosophy at UNC Chapel Hill and Postdoctoral Fellow at UNC's Educating for the Virtues of Attention Initiative. I recently completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Michigan, where I was advised by Sarah Buss and Peter Railton.

I work primarily in ethics and moral psychology, with interests in related areas of social and political philosophy, the philosophy of mind and action, cognitive science, and epistemology. Much of my recent work concerns the nature and normativity of emotions we experience in the context of moral and political life. I am also working on the role of attention in valuing, and the challenges our current technological and economic conditions create for paying attention to what matters.
